Okern Center - New urban landscapes
Oslo is located into a system of valleys which descend from the north to the fjords. Okern area is situated in the big Grorud valley linking Oslo to the north of Norway, and the principal airport. The valley could be imagined as an instrument to revive the area and its connection with the city. The idea was to create a continuous public-activities infrastructure that connects different functions. A high-rise building would host the local municipality. Underneath, a highly infrastructured core would provide subway and train stops, a shopping mall, a cultural center, a multiplex cinema and parkings. On the rooftops an artificial landscape would be connected to the natural park in the northern area. On the east side a residential area would arise adapting to the existent orography and creating many small public areas among the buildings. On the west side a large structure, hosting a school, a sport center and offices, borders the area.
