Romagna 1 - Something to write home about
The apartment is located in a 1930s building and is owned by a young professional couple. This first residential design experiment was based on the importance of communication, which means a founding part of the idea of home and family to the couple that will live here. The conceptual and geometrical center of the apartment is represented by a magnetic blackboard wall. This full-height blackboard connects all the rooms and offers a means for verbal and spatial communication. Colors are the other main protagonists. The blackboard contrasts with the white walls, while warm oak-wooden furniture is opposed to light wire-frame metal structures. Concrete-like resin has been used to cover the floor in the common areas and to surround the original cement-tiles that, lined with transparent resin, reminds of a colorful floral carpet.
