Venini 16 - Home for travelers
This apartment, located right near the Main Train Station in Milan, belongs to a travelers couple, formed by a gentleman from Milan and a Roman young lady who met each other on the opposite side of the world, in China. Here the design aims to interpret the idea of exploring and discovering, and to reproduce the dynamism and the pleasant instability/uncertainty of traveling. I used phenolic plywood panels for furniture to recall the ephemeral structures of temporary exhibitions. The “Palladiana” floor (irregular slab marble mosaic) reminds of ancient Rome streets and provides the floor with a dynamic and irregular shape. The living-room acts like a three-sided box, open towards the entrance and the bedrooms, with the chromatic variation of the walls underlining the intersection of different volumes. Some furniture elements remind of ships and trains aesthetics.
